Completion date: February 25, 2025

Location: Jefferson, NJ

Why did the customer contact us?

Tom contacted PDQ Restoration after his sump pump failed during a heavy rainstorm, causing water to flood his half-finished basement in Jefferson, NJ. When he discovered standing water soaking into the carpet and seeping into the drywall, he knew immediate action was necessary to prevent mold growth and structural damage. Unsure of how to remove the water effectively, Tom reached out to PDQ Restoration for professional water extraction and drying services.

Solutions provided:

Our team arrived quickly and assessed the extent of the water damage. Using high-powered extraction equipment, we removed the standing water from both the finished and unfinished sections of the basement. The affected carpet and padding were removed to prevent mold growth, while specialized drying mats were placed on the concrete flooring in the unfinished area to extract hidden moisture. Industrial-strength dehumidifiers and air movers were strategically positioned to accelerate the drying process and prevent further humidity-related damage.

To ensure a complete restoration, we conducted moisture readings throughout the basement, checking the drywall, wooden framing, and flooring for hidden dampness. Any affected drywall was cut out and replaced to prevent future mold issues. Additionally, we applied antimicrobial treatments to all affected surfaces to eliminate bacteria and inhibit mold growth. Once the basement was fully dry, we worked with Tom to restore the finished portion, reinstalling new flooring and baseboards.

Within a few days, PDQ Restoration had successfully dried and restored Tom’s basement in Jefferson, NJ, preventing further damage and costly repairs. We also assisted him in filing an insurance claim to help cover the restoration costs. Thanks to PDQ’s quick response and expert water mitigation, Tom’s basement was back to pre-damage condition, giving him peace of mind for future storms.
